OCOTEA (Ocotea quixos) ~ Young Living’s newest therapeutic grade essential oil is extracted from the stem and leaves of the ocotea tree in Ecuador and is related to the cinnamon species. This essential oil has an aroma that is different from any common cinnamon. Ocotea has the highest level of alpha humulene of any essential oil and also has natural cleansing and purifying properties.
Ocotea is wild crafted and distilled at Finca Botánica Aromática, Young Living’s farm and distillery in Ecuador. Ocotea is harvested from a large tree found in the Amazon Basic of Ecuador, from sea level up to 1,500 meters in altitude. The trees are divided into male and female trees, with only the female trees producing foliage suitable for distillation into essential oils. Historical usage of ocotea dates back more than 500 years, when it was used to aromatize sweets and cakes.
Though there are hints of a cinnamon base, ocotea is different from traditional cinnamon. Ocotea has high levels of alpha humulene — one of the highest of any known essential oil. Alpha humulene can balance the body’s internal response to irritation. Only copaiba essential oil has comparable levels of this natural plant compound.

A: Yes; RutaVaLa (rue) essential oil is a very different chemical composition than the Ruta graveolens herb itself. The herb or water extracts from the herb can have negative effects at very high dosages. RutaVaLa oil is composed primarily of ingredients that are generally recognized as safe (GRAS) according to the FDA.
Q: Should RutaVaLa be used topically?
A: RutaVaLa oil contains a photosensitizing compound. Avoid direct sunlight or UV rays up to twelve hours after applying the product.

I had a very itchy swollen bug bite on my wrist and the oil instantly took away the itching and reduced the swelling considerably. That’s pretty amazing, because I hadn’t previously found any oils that would take away the itching. And, I love the fragrance of this oil. I’m definitely not sending it back for replacement.
I’ve been applying Stress Away to the base of my skull and back of my neck a lot, for the last few days. The skin there tends to be very sensitive to the hotter oils, (like thieves & oregano) and it’s been getting red and irritated. I’m thinking, I might be sensitive to the Ocotea, which has some cinnamon like properties to it. Has any one else noticed a sensitivity to this oil or to the Stress Away blend?

Hi Everyone,
Convention was incredible (as usual) and I want to add my experience on Sleep Essence capsules and Stress Away and RutaVaLa Roll Ons, our new products. I don’t usually sleep easily or well, so I was very excited to see that Gary has given us something to relax us into REM..couldn’t wait to try it. Ishpingo
~ The essential oil of Ishpingo (Ocotea quixos, Lauraceae) fruit calices was analysed by GC (gas chromatography) and GC-MS (gas chromatography—mass spectrometry). Fourty-four compounds were identified. The main components detected were trans-cinnamaldehyde (27.9%), methylcinnamate (21.6%), 1,8-cineole (8.0%), benzaldehyde (3.6%), and β-selinene (2.1%). In vitro antioxidant properties of the essential oil, obtained by DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) and β-carotene bleaching assays, were also evaluated. The oil exerted a relatively good capacity to act as a non-specific donor of hydrogen atoms or electrons when checked by the diphenylpicrylhydrazyl assay, quenching 52% of the radical. On the other hand, it showed weak effects in inhibiting oxidation of linoleic acid when assayed by the β-carotene bleaching test. Antibacterial activity of the essential oil was also checked against gram positive (Enterococcus foecalis, Staphylococcus aureus) and gram negative strains (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa). The oil also showed a dose-dependent antifungal activity against Candida albicans, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, phytopathogen Pythium ultimum and dermatophyte Trichophyton mentagrophytes. ~ Research from Science Direct

Dorado Azul
~ rich in eucalyptol and beta pinene, dorado azul has powerful purifying properties, improves digestion and enhances mood.
It that has a red liquid when distilled and the native use it to cure cancer. It looks like stinging nettle, found in highlands on coastal area, very aromatic. Some called it goldenweed, because the local people don’t have common name for it, nobody knew what was for sure what to call it but it is part of labiatae family; DORADO AZUL.
A sample was sent it to a botanist, and he didn’t know what was.
Dorato Azul has little blue flowers, leaf turns blue on tips when it has matured. It contains many compounds that are very interesting. Alpha pinenes, to modulate brain function. Hypothalamus is the first to de-regulate hormone balance and thyroid balance. Limonene is Anti-tumoral, eucalyptol 1.8 cineol-anti inflammatory. 72% reduction in steroids with use of 1.8 cineol. Fenchone, hormone molecule, balances estrogen. terpinene 4-ol, never been seen before in an oil, remarkable oil for respiratory uses. At the Clinic they are giving Dorato Azul intravenously and there’re getting remarkable results.
Gary has a large crop of Dorato Azul in Ecuador and is in the process of getting it distilled. The brix is 5-6 at noon, goes up to 10 (this determines the best time to harvest a plant, by measuring the moisture content of the plant at different times of day).
Yields 8 ton of plant to the acre. Very dense, 13 feet of height. Grows very fast in Ecuador. Everything does.
